THURSDAY OCTOBER 13th SBE 39 PRESENTS

Building, Monitoring, and Safe Switching Redundant Systems

BY:Chris McLendon

FROM: CRYSTAL VISION

System Redundancy is a challenge for all types of Broadcasters. Backup and Fail-Safe can mean many things to different people. Can a single point of failure be eliminated? How do you properly monitor Redundant Systems? What about the case of automated switching? Specifically, the conditions of input loss, active picture errors, CRC errors, missing audio, and frozen video? How do you protect an STL or input to an Encoder? How do you protect your output during a catastrophic system failure? These and other issues will be the topics for discussion.
